DEFENSIBLE SPACE CURBSIDE CHIPPING PROGRAM The Alpine Fire Safe Council is offering a grant funded chipping program to help you clear around your house and outbuildings. State law requires 100 feet of defensible space around your buildings to help protect firefighters and your property. Schedule a Courtesy Fire Safe Review to find out what you can do before the chipping crew arrives (Call 530-694-2791.) There is no cost to you for the review or the chipping! This year the crew can offer brush/limb clearing and removal to the curb at the rate of $95 per hour. Seniors get a 10% discount! Please include your request for this special service when you call to sign up for the chipping program (see below.)

Q: Do I need to sign up or make an appointment? A: You do need to sign up by calling 530-694-2791 with your name, address,
Q: What is “the road?” A: County or private roads and well maintained driveways.
Q: Will the crew haul away the chips? A: No, they will either spread or pile them back on your property. (see next question.)
Q: How will the crew know what to do with my chips? A: Please include your preference when you call to sign up.
Q: Does it cost me anything for the chipping? A: No, this is a grant-funded program courtesy of the Alpine Fire Safe Council. Q: Does it cost me anything for brush or limb clearing and removal to the curb? A: Yes. The crew will charge $95 per hour for this service. Seniors receive a 10% discount. This service will be on a cash basis only and requires payment at the time of service.
Q. Where will the chipping crew be working? A. The crew will be available to work in all of the subdivisions in Markleeville, Woodfords, Hope Valley and the Woodfords Colony.
