Below are lists of locals who perform various services, though none are a complete tree service as listed above.  Alpine Fire Safe Council recommends checking to ensure your contractor has the appropriate licenses and insurance for your work.

The local volunteer fire departments may be willing to assist neighbors with some defensible space work as part of their community service and fundraising programs. Contact your local department chief to determine their availability. Please realize that these all-volunteer departments may not have time to provide these services and homeowners should pursue other alternatives for defensible space creation.
Forestry Management and Community Solutions
For large landowners or community groups who can come to consensus on their fuels reduction solution, there are some additional resources available.

Dave works in the local area providing forest management services such as development of commercial fuels reduction projects and community fuels reduction plans to landowners and communities.  Additionally, he can assist in navigating California rules and regulations.

Using Conservation Corps ten-person service crews, GBI is able to offer large landowners and communities forestry assistance through vegetation management, removing invasive species, reducing fuel loads, and monitoring forest health.

Full Circle Compost in Minden will take green waste for use in composting vegetation, nail free construction lumber, stumps and sod.  First two yards of green waster free of charge, then $8 per cubic yard.  Additional fee for trees and stumps.  There is a $3 per cubic yard credit toward the purchase of their products.

Turtle Rock Park Biomass Pile will not be open Spring 2010, due to county budget limitations.  The Alpine Fire Safe Council has applied for a grant to help fund the collection site this fall.  Award determination has not yet been made. 

Bently Agrowdynamics

Bently will take all types of green waste, nail-free construction wood waste, even stumps.  Pine needles, grass, and leaves accepted free of charge.  Wood waste is $10.00/ton.  They will pay for chipped wood.  ($5.00/ton.)

Douglas Disposal Transfer Station

Pine Nut Road, Gardnerville

The Transfer Station will accept green waste at half the rate of normal waste ($42.00/ton.)  Make sure to specify "green waster" at the fee station.
